What is a BID Levy?

The ‘levy’ is the amount each business (and council owned properties) invests into the BID fund.

Each levy is based on the Rateable Value (RV) of the businesses property as provided to us by Birmingham City Council. The bill for the levy goes to the person liable for the business rates.

Our BID has both a minimum (£240 pa) and a maximum levy (£6,000 pa). This is so that smaller businesses make a reasonable contribution towards the benefits they will gain, whilst ensuring that levies for very large businesses are not excessive.

The actual levies payable will be dependant on what businessses say they want the BID to deliver. The minimum and maximum levies are set by the BID board of directors when assessing what is to be delivered within the BID business plan.
