What is a BID?
- An independent, business-led & not for profit company that invests in the things that matter most to businesses and their customers
- A five year funded programme with clear objectives and local accountability
- Projects and services in addition to statutory services provided by public authorities such as the city council and police
- A defined area within which all businesses collectively invest
- A fair and transparent ‘levy’ on all eligible occupiers within the BID area, complemented by additional voluntary contributions from other stakeholders such as property owners and developers
- A five year initial term, after which a renewal ballot can take place for a second five year term
