Best Shop Front – The Swan Trio

Best Shop Front – The Swan Trio

What a show Hazel, her sister, neice Sarah and daughter Olivia put on for the judges from Britain in Bloom when they visited us on 8th July.

What a brilliant idea to display a representative range of the items customers can find inside their shop.  The judges were greeted initially by  a line of small plant pots on top of the low wall, adorned with poppies made by them.  A pair of boots to illustrate their shoe repairing business (not a load of cobblers) planted up with flowers were amongst the display.

Another clever idea was to use garden canes with mohair wool attached to the top in a variety of colours  echoing the look of a vase of flowers.  Butterflies made out of pieces of material fluttered from tennis rackets as Wimbledon was happening the same week.

Knitted dolls to show that they sell wool were dressed in the baby clothes they sell.   Not outside was a representative range of jewellery, photo frames and leather goods also available inside for sale.  Not to mention a watch repair service.

To add to the welcoming aspect of this business, Hazel’s daughter was dispensing drinks and snacks.

What a delight to visit – a certificate and prize was awarded to them by the Village in Bloom team recently.

Also making our village look attractive, Bowen’s estate agency had adorned a new fence with patio roses in addition to the line of Pelargoniums displayed over the shop – who said that estate agents did not always smell of roses!  Banquet Cafe has put up an new attractive awning and E and J Barbers by Woodcock Lane have painted the front of their shop.  Gossips took advantage of one of our hanging baskets as well as displaying two planters at the entrance of their shop.  Midland Schoolwear also display one of our hanging baskets.  The Inn on the Green also displays four of our hanging baskets, as does the Red Lion and the Thai nail bar next door.  Body Lines also displays hanging baskets outside their shop.

We are all starting to realise that a clean well presented shopping centre will attract the crowds made even better of course by all the wonderful planting.
